New Delhi, May 6 — South African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada is officially available for selection in the remainder of IPL 2025, Gujarat Titans confirmed on Monday evening. Rabada returns to competitive action after serving a one-month suspension imposed by the South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport (SAIDS) due to the use of a prohibited substance during the SA20 tournament.
Following a transparent admission of the violation, Rabada cooperated with SAIDS, completed a mandatory rehabilitation program, and was cleared to resume cricket duties. With the IPL entering its crucial final phase, Rabada’s return is expected to significantly bolster Gujarat Titans’ bowling attack.

Support from Gujarat Titans Leadership
Vikram Solanki, Director of Cricket for Gujarat Titans, expressed full support for Rabada during the announcement. “It’s our responsibility to support our players, both in form and through personal challenges,” said Solanki. “Kagiso made it clear he didn’t want this incident to distract the team. He has taken accountability, learned from the experience, and is now fully focused on cricket.”
Solanki emphasized the team’s belief in rehabilitation and fairness, stating that Rabada followed the official process and fulfilled all regulatory requirements.
Set for IPL Return and World Test Championship Final
Rabada had played two matches earlier in the season before returning to South Africa due to the suspension. Now reinstated, he is eligible not only for the remaining IPL 2025 matches but also for selection in the upcoming ICC World Test Championship Final in June at Lord’s, where South Africa will face Australia.
His presence is expected to bring depth and pace to the Titans’ bowling arsenal as the tournament approaches its playoff stages.
Case Closed, Focus Back on Cricket
Solanki concluded by stating that the matter is now closed from the team’s perspective. “Rules are equal for all. Kagiso has served his suspension and is ready to return to the field. It’s time to move forward.”
Rabada’s reinstatement marks a crucial turning point for Gujarat Titans as they aim for a strong finish in IPL 2025.
