If you’re a salaried employee contributing to the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF), there’s good news on the horizon. The Central Government has approved an 8.25% interest rate on EPF deposits for the financial year 2024–25. Over 7 crore employees are set to benefit from this move, as the interest amount will soon be credited to their respective accounts. While the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has not officially confirmed the exact date for the credit, the deposit is expected shortly.

Here’s how you can check your PF balance and verify once the interest is deposited.
How to Check Your EPF Balance Online
You can easily check your PF balance through the EPFO website. Just follow these steps:
-
Visit the official EPFO portal: https://www.epfindia.gov.in
-
Click on ‘For Employees’ under the ‘Our Services’ section.
-
Select ‘Member Passbook’.
-
Log in using your UAN (Universal Account Number) and password, and enter the captcha code.
-
Your PF balance and transaction history will be displayed, including any newly added interest.
How to Check PF Balance Without a UAN Number
If you don’t have access to your UAN, you can still check your balance via a missed call:
-
Dial 011-22901406 from your registered mobile number.
-
You will receive an SMS with your latest PF balance details.
What If the Interest Is Not Yet Visible?
If the interest is not reflected in your passbook immediately, don’t panic. EPFO often takes time to update balances across all regional accounts. In most cases, the amount is credited internally before being visible in the passbook. Here’s what you can do:
-
Wait for a few more days and check again.
-
If the interest isn’t credited even after the wait, file a complaint on the EPFO Grievance Portal or contact your regional EPFO office.
Final Word
The 8.25% interest rate makes EPF one of the most secure and high-yield savings options for employees. With crores of employees awaiting the interest credit, this update is a welcome relief. Just keep your UAN details handy and keep checking the official portal for the latest updates.
