US Justifies Military Action Against Iran at UN Amid Rising Tensions

New Delhi, March 1: A new statement from the United States has emerged at the United Nations amid severe attacks in the Middle East. The US defended its military actions against Iran, asserting that the safety of its allies is “not conditional.”

During an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council, US envoy Mike Waltz justified military strikes against Iran. He stated, “Iran’s continuous attempts to advance its missile capabilities and its refusal to abandon nuclear ambitions, despite diplomatic opportunities, pose a serious and growing threat.”

Waltz reiterated the US stance on Iran acquiring nuclear weapons, emphasizing, “The international community has long affirmed a simple and necessary principle: Iran cannot possess nuclear weapons. This principle is not a political issue; it is a matter of Global Security, and that is why the US is taking action.”

He argued that Washington, under President Donald Trump, had made repeated diplomatic efforts but blamed Iran for failing to comply. “American diplomacy has been attempted repeatedly and in good faith. Diplomacy cannot succeed when there is no genuine desire to halt attacks, where there is no true partner for peace,” he said.

Waltz accused Iran of undermining the council’s credibility, stating, “It is unfortunate that this government will attempt to lecture us on human rights and the rule of law. Its presence in this council mocks the UN.”

Referring to attacks on regional partners like Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, and Jordan, Waltz asserted that these actions demonstrate why US measures are necessary.

He concluded, “Those who stand with us must know that their safety cannot be bargained with. The security of our allies is not negotiable. This is certain. Peace is not maintained by appeasing those who threaten it. Peace is sustained through strength against terror.”

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump reiterated his stance against Iran. On Sunday, he posted on Truth Social, “Iran has just said they will attack very powerfully today, more than ever before. But they better not, because if they do, we will strike them with a force the likes of which they have never seen.”
