UDAIPUR, March 8 (Daily Udaipur): The alleged video controversy involving a BJP woman leader and several party leaders and workers in Udaipur has intensified, creating a stir within the local BJP unit. The political atmosphere in the city unit of the party is currently revolving around the issue, with discussions and concerns continuing to grow.

Reports suggest that the matter has reached party circles from Jaipur to Delhi, where the opposing faction is demanding action in the case. Meanwhile, some office bearers and workers linked to the controversy claim that the alleged videos are no longer in anyone’s possession. They believe that if any action such as removal from party posts is taken later, after the issue settles down, it would prevent damage to the party’s reputation.

However, the leaders reportedly connected to the controversy remain concerned about the next move of the woman leader. It is being discussed that if she decides to initiate legal proceedings and possesses the alleged videos, she could expose several leaders with supporting evidence.

Amid these developments, Additional Superintendent of Police Gopal Swarup Mewara has begun the investigation as the new inquiry officer in the case. The probe also includes examining the role of alleged BJP workers and police personnel who were reportedly present during an incident of vandalism at the residence of accused advocate Vishal Gurjar between 3:00 am and 3:50 am.

During the incident, tools such as crowbars and hammers were allegedly used to break into the house. The investigation is also expected to focus on the recovery of evidence that was reportedly destroyed, including objectionable videos and photographs said to have been deleted from the accused’s mobile phone and DVR.

It may be recalled that on February 11, the BJP woman leader had filed a case against advocate Vishal Gurjar, accusing him of creating objectionable videos and photos with several BJP leaders using AI technology and allegedly blackmailing her.

On the same day, CCTV footage reportedly showed police personnel along with BJP leaders, and the accused advocate was arrested by police around 4 am. Since then, questions have been raised over the police action in the matter.

The investigation was earlier being handled by Deputy Girwa Gopal Chandel but has now been transferred to ASP Gopal Swarup Mewara.
