Mumbai, March 13: The final date for submitting the annual tax for heavy vehicles for the financial year 2026-27 is March 15, 2026. The transport department will launch a special campaign starting March 16, 2026, to recover outstanding taxes from passenger and heavy vehicles that fail to pay by the deadline.
Regional Transport Officer Gyandev Vishwakarma announced that seven task forces have been formed for this campaign, which will operate 24/7. During this operation, vehicles with outstanding taxes will be seized on-site, and taxes along with fines will be collected immediately.
To facilitate tax collection, the office will remain open even on holidays, with all staff present to assist. Additionally, vehicles under the BH series, including cars and two-wheelers, that have overdue biannual taxes will incur a penalty of ₹100 per day. Vehicle owners are urged to pay their outstanding taxes promptly.
Vehicles operating under a Temporary Registration Certificate (TRC) will be considered illegal and subject to seizure. Owners of such vehicles must ensure they complete their registration without delay.
