Udaipur, March 19: The All India Dancers Association and Kathak Ashram Udaipur are set to host a two-day International Classical Dance Festival on April 26 and 27. The organizing team recently met with Tourism Minister and Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari to share details about the event. Notable attendees included Chandrakala Chaudhary, Kaniska Shrimali, Kuntal Joshi, and Pradeep Ravani.
Chandrakala Chaudhary, director of Kathak Ashram, invited the minister to be the chief guest and provided comprehensive information about the festival. In response, she assured full support and promised departmental cooperation for the successful execution of the event. Kaniska Shrimali from the Yashwant Foundation announced that this festival marks the third time it will be held in India, taking place in Udaipur, Rajasthan, on April 26 and 27, 2026.
Previously, the festival was held in Nepal in 2018, followed by Thailand (Bangkok) in 2019-20, and Malaysia in 2020. This year’s event is expected to attract around 400-500 participants and artists from both India and abroad, showcasing their talents. Various classical dance forms will be presented by distinguished artists.
Ritesh Babu, director of AIDA, mentioned that this edition will feature special performances that are sure to captivate audiences. A prominent group from Delhi will bring to life the tales of Lord Krishna through “Upakathak,” while a Bharatanatyam troupe from Raipur will deliver a powerful rendition of Shiva Tandav. Additionally, Kerala’s traditional Kathakali art will mesmerize the local residents with its grand costumes and expressive gestures.
Following the immense success of the fifth edition, the organizers are committed to making this sixth event even more spectacular, aiming to provide a global platform for the rich heritage of classical dance.
