Patna, April 3: Significant changes are brewing in Bihar’s political landscape. Sources indicate that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar may take his seat in the Rajya Sabha on April 10 and is expected to resign from his position on April 14. If this occurs, a new government could be formed by April 18. This potential shift has sparked intense discussions in political circles, suggesting a major upheaval in Bihar’s power structure in the coming days.
Amidst the rumors of his resignation, a crucial decision regarding his security has also been made. The Bihar government’s Home Department has issued a notification stating that Kumar will continue to receive Z+ category security even after resigning. The notification specifies that he will assume his Rajya Sabha membership following his resignation as Chief Minister. This security is provided under the Bihar Special Security Act of 2000, which ensures special protection for sensitive individuals.
Political activities have intensified as well. On Thursday, rebel MLA Faisal Rahman from Tejashwi Yadav’s faction visited Kumar at his residence. Notably, Rahman did not participate in the voting during the Rajya Sabha elections, further fueling speculation about the political dynamics at play.
The Home Department’s order emphasizes the necessity of providing security to Kumar, considering his tenure as Chief Minister and the current political climate. All eyes are now on the upcoming dates, as Bihar’s political scene may witness a significant transformation.
