Ceiling Collapse Injures Election Official in Jhadol, Udaipur
A ceiling collapse in Jhadol injured an election official and caused chaos among staff.
UDAIPUR, Oct 24: In Jhadol, Udaipur district, a PVC ceiling collapse injured an election official around 1:15 AM at the Panchayat Samiti auditorium. Staff were resting before their duties when a section of the ceiling fell.
Many employees were asleep after a long day of election duties when panic ensued as the officials awoke to the noise and scrambled for safety. Some sustained minor injuries from collisions with furniture.
Ramesh Chandra, a Physical Training Instructor from Patia School in Nayagaon, suffered a broken hand and was taken to Jhadol hospital. He received initial treatment before being referred to Udaipur for further care. Other injured staff were treated and released.
Installed approximately two years ago, the ceiling now raises concerns regarding its construction quality. Corrosion in the screws and fixtures may have contributed to the collapse, prompting questions about the materials’ durability.
