Congress Leaders Accuse BJP of Police Misuse in Local Elections

Jaipur, October 5: Congress leaders Govind Singh Dotasra and Tika Ram Julie visited the police headquarters to submit a memorandum to Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar Sharma. They raised concerns about the alleged misuse of police machinery during the recent local elections.

Dotasra accused the BJP government of exploiting the police system, claiming that there was “councilor theft” and that the democratic rights of the public were undermined. Both leaders urged the police and administration to conduct the upcoming Panchayati Raj elections without any political pressure.

Julie emphasized that the police were used in a “dictatorial and goon-like” manner during the local elections. He stated that the attempt to influence the elections and seize the mandate was an attack on democracy, which should not be tolerated.

The leaders insisted that the police administration must ensure a fair electoral process in the upcoming Panchayati Raj elections. Julie asserted that they presented their demands “with full strength.”

The Panchayati Raj elections in Rajasthan will take place in four phases, with voting scheduled for October 23, October 29, November 4, and November 14. Nominations for the district council will be accepted until October 13.

Since the results of the local elections, Congress has been vocal about the role of police and administration. The party has formed a committee to investigate complaints and has begun probing cross-voting allegations. Just a day earlier, Sachin Pilot also accused the police and administration of political manipulation during the elections.

As of now, there has been no immediate response from the police headquarters or the government regarding the memorandum.
