In a welcome move for government employees and pensioners, the Gujarat government led by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has announced a hike in Dearness Allowance (DA), effective from January 1, 2025. The announcement was made following a state cabinet meeting held on Wednesday, bringing financial relief and festive cheer to lakhs of employees and pensioners.

2% to 6% DA Hike Based on Pay Commission
According to the state government, the DA hike applies to employees receiving salaries under the 6th and 7th Pay Commissions. The DA has been increased by 2% for 7th Pay Commission beneficiaries, while those under the 6th Pay Commission will receive a 6% hike. This increase is aligned with the central government’s latest revision of DA rates.

The Gujarat state government will release ₹235 crore towards arrears and an additional ₹946 crore annually as part of the increased salaries, allowances, and pensions.
