Naresh Meena Announces Road Show Amid Police Crackdown in Baran

Baran, November 6: Naresh Meena, the leader of the Bhagat Singh Army, remains at large as police have yet to apprehend him following a violent incident involving forest department personnel at the Nahargarh range office. Despite multiple police raids, Meena has announced a six-day election campaign and road show from November 7 to November 12 on social media. He has also changed his earlier plan to voluntarily surrender at the police station on November 6, stating he will now seek legal recourse in court.

Meena initially declared he would turn himself in at Nahargarh police station at 5 PM on November 6. However, in a recent social media post, he mentioned, “The police have surrounded the village. I urge everyone to remain calm and let them do their job. I am safe here. I was going to surrender voluntarily, but now I will seek the court’s protection instead.”

Heavy police presence surrounds the village as teams work to locate him. Meanwhile, Meena is preparing to seek legal relief from the court.

On Thursday, amidst police pressure, Meena released a new video showing him on a boat in a river surrounded by hills. He appealed to voters in the Baran area to press the button for the Bahujan Samaj Party’s election symbol, the “elephant,” in the upcoming Panchayati Raj elections scheduled for November 14. With just eight days left until voting, his declared campaign will conclude two days prior, on November 12.

According to police reports, the incident on November 1 occurred when the forest department seized a generator from an illegal tube well. In protest, Meena and hundreds of supporters stormed the Nahargarh range office. Allegations state that the crowd assaulted forest personnel, tore their uniform badges, and confiscated the seized generator, loading it into a mini truck. Police have registered a case under serious sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act based on the report from the forest checkpoint in charge.

Naresh Meena is currently out on conditional bail from the High Court related to a case involving the assault of an SDM during the Devli-Uniyara by-election and violence in Samrawta. The court stipulated that he must report to the relevant police station during the first week of each month and refrain from involvement in any other criminal cases. Previously, on July 13, a special SC-ST court in Tonk revoked his bail for violating these conditions, leading him to surrender at Nagarfort police station on August 6. After being released on bail, he attempted to march to Jaipur on October 7 to demand fertilizer, which police halted near the Shivdaspura toll.
