
Jodhpur, April 4: The city of Jodhpur has welcomed a new District Collector, young Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Alok Ranjan, who officially assumed office today. His appointment brings fresh energy and expectations for a new approach to the administrative framework of Jodhpur.
During the handover ceremony, several officials were present, including Municipal Commissioner Rahul Jain, JDA Commissioner Utsav Chaudhary, SDM Pritam Kumar, trainee IAS Mohanlal, SDM Pankaj Jain, and Public Relations Officer Akanksha Palawat. Senior officials from the administration, including ADM Jawahar Chaudhary and Surendra Singh Rajpurhoit, also attended the joining process.
In his first review meeting, Collector Alok Ranjan emphasized the importance of timeliness, accountability, and coordination in administrative tasks. He instructed that matters concerning the public should be resolved promptly and that each department must work responsibly.
He made it clear that work should prioritize public interest in line with the Rajasthan government’s objectives. Ranjan stressed the need to expedite development projects, resolve pending issues quickly, and effectively implement welfare schemes at the grassroots level.
Having a longstanding connection with Jodhpur, Alok Ranjan previously served as an SDM in the city. This experience gives him a solid understanding of the local administrative structure, challenges, and development opportunities, making his arrival significant from an administrative perspective.
In his initial vision, Ranjan highlighted a focus on Jodhpur’s cultural heritage, tourism, and urban development. He indicated that the administration would enhance its efforts to support overall development, improve infrastructure, and strengthen the tourism sector.
In his first media interaction, District Collector Alok Ranjan stated that his primary responsibility is to ensure the swift resolution of public issues. He expressed his commitment to making the administration more sensitive, accountable, and people-centered. He assured that the benefits of government services and schemes would reach the last person in the community, working diligently to earn the public’s trust and accelerate Jodhpur’s development in coordination with his team.
