Opposition Leader Takes Aim At BJPs Dual Standards On Celebration Dates Daily Udaipur

Jaipur, April 6: Rajasthan’s Leader of the Opposition, Tikaram Julie, has sharply criticized the BJP for its approach to celebrating its establishment day. He pointed out the party’s “duplicity,” highlighting the inconsistency in celebrating Rajasthan Day according to the Hindu calendar while observing the BJP’s establishment day based on the English calendar.

Julie emphasized the irony of a government that claims to make decisions rooted in cultural values yet fails to apply the same principles to its own events. He questioned why Rajasthan Day could be celebrated according to the Hindu calendar, but the BJP’s establishment day could not follow the same tradition.

He further noted that celebrating Rajasthan Day according to the date required several administrative adjustments, including changes to stationery, records, and other arrangements. This raises the question of whether national holidays like January 26 and August 15 will also be celebrated according to the Hindu calendar in the future. Julie accused the government of focusing more on creating a “narrative” than on actual governance.

Julie also pointed out that many BJP leaders celebrate their birthdays according to the English calendar. He argued that using the English calendar for personal occasions while applying the Hindu calendar for Rajasthan Day is illogical. He had previously raised this issue in the assembly before the Chief Minister but received no clear response.

He suggested that if the government genuinely wants to implement the Hindu calendar, it should advocate for a uniform decision to celebrate all major national events and festivals based on this calendar at the national level, possibly through Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
