Tensions Rise in BJP Over Panchayat Ticket Dispute Involving Rajendra Rathores Son

Jaipur, October 21: Tensions flared within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during discussions over ticket allocations for the third phase of the Panchayat elections. Former Leader of the Opposition, Rajendra Rathore, expressed his frustration during a meeting at the BJP headquarters. Sources indicate that Rathore was advocating for tickets for his son, Parakram Singh Rathore, and his daughter-in-law for the Churu Zila Parishad. The organization decided to approve the ticket for his daughter-in-law but placed his son’s ticket on hold, which led to Rathore’s anger.

Rathore pointed out that his son’s name had also been put on hold in the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) elections, questioning how long this would continue. He noted that several families have received multiple tickets in different areas, asking why his family faced issues.

In September, Parakram Singh Rathore had filed his nomination for the RCA presidency but later withdrew.

Reports suggest that Rathore was so upset that he attempted to leave the meeting. However, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma intervened, reminding him of his seniority and assuring him that his opinions would be valued. After the meeting, Rathore departed.

The party’s stance indicated that the Shekhawati region is challenging for the BJP, and granting multiple tickets to one family could lead to discontent in the area. Rathore countered that he understands how to win elections in his region and has successfully campaigned in other areas as well. He reportedly stated that the organization could conduct the elections as it sees fit and still win.

The BJP had established election management committees for the Panchayat elections across seven divisions on October 3, assigning Rajendra Rathore to oversee the Udaipur division. Recently, he underwent angioplasty, prompting visits from senior party leaders, including the Chief Minister and the state president. Voting for the Panchayat elections in Churu is scheduled for November.

As of now, there has been no official statement from either the BJP or Rajendra Rathore regarding this meeting.
