Tika Ram Julie Accuses BJP of Electoral Fraud and Inadequate Drought Response

Alwar, October 28: In a press conference held in Alwar, Leader of the Opposition Tika Ram Julie accused the BJP of undermining democracy through electoral fraud. He claimed that a total of 13 crore names have been removed from voter lists, with about 3 crore of these being deceased individuals or duplicates. However, he questioned the removal of the remaining 10 crore names, stating that no explanation has been provided to date.
Julie was speaking during an organizational meeting and press conference in preparation for the Congress party’s upcoming ‘Save Vote, Save Country’ rally scheduled for November 1 at Ram Leela Maidan in Delhi. The party aims to mobilize one lakh people from Rajasthan for this rally.
Julie further criticized the central government’s recent legislation, which he claimed prevents any legal action against the Election Commission. He raised concerns about the necessity for such legal protection for the Commission. He noted that the committee responsible for appointing election commissioners previously included the Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition, and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. However, the government replaced the Chief Justice with a cabinet minister, thereby gaining a majority in the committee.
Additionally, Julie condemned the government’s response to the drought situation, stating that despite 41 districts and 425 tehsils in the state, only 80 tehsils have been declared drought-affected. He described this as a mere formality, criticizing the government for its inadequate response to widespread drought conditions. The government had issued notifications on October 24 and 25 declaring 80 tehsils in 14 districts as drought-affected.
He demanded that the government make public the reports from district collectors and the criteria used for selecting drought-affected areas. He called for a fair assessment of all impacted regions and immediate relief for farmers affected by the drought.
