Washington, March 7: Iranian President Masoud Pajeshkian’s recent apology to neighboring countries has drawn sharp criticism from U.S. President Donald Trump. On Saturday, Trump took to his Truth Social platform to mock Pajeshkian’s gesture, labeling it a move made under pressure.
Trump asserted that Iran has capitulated to its neighbors, stating that the country has apologized and pledged not to attack them again. He attributed this shift to the ongoing pressures from the United States and Israel.
In his post, Trump remarked, “Iran has been badly beaten in this conflict. They have apologized and surrendered to their Middle Eastern neighbors, promising not to fire upon them anymore.”
According to Trump, this promise was made solely due to the relentless attacks from the U.S. and Israel. He noted that Iran had ambitions to dominate the Middle East. “For the first time in thousands of years, Iran has been defeated by its neighboring Middle Eastern countries,” he added.
The U.S. President claimed that Gulf nations expressed gratitude to him following Iran’s apology. “They said to me, ‘Thank you, President Trump,’ and I replied, ‘You’re welcome!'”
Trump further declared that Iran will no longer intimidate the Middle East, labeling them as “losers” who will remain so for decades unless they surrender or are completely eradicated.
He also hinted at a potential major assault on Iran, asserting that the country would face severe repercussions. “Due to Iran’s misconduct, we are seriously considering total devastation and complete annihilation!”
Earlier, Pajeshkian had stated on state television that while Iran could halt attacks on neighboring countries, it would respond if attacked.
Following Pajeshkian’s comments, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran stated that it respects the sovereignty of neighboring nations and has not launched any attacks against them.
Local media reported that the IRGC also warned that if U.S. and Israeli attacks persist, all military bases in the region would become targets for Iran.
