VDO, E-Mitra Operator Held Taking ₹8,000 Bribe in Pratapgarh

Jaipur, March 5, 2026 (Daily Udaipur): The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a Gram Vikas Adhikari and an alleged middleman while accepting a Bribe of ₹8,000 in RAJASTHAN’s Pratapgarh district.

Bribe

According to the ACB, the accused Yashwant Joshi, Gram Vikas Adhikari of Gram Panchayat Suhagpura with additional charge of Gram Panchayat Kachotiya, and Rajmal, an E-Mitra operator, were caught red-handed during a trap operation conducted by the ACB’s Pratapgarh unit.

The action was taken following a complaint that the VDO had demanded ₹12,000 from the complainant for processing the registry of a house lease. The complainant was allegedly asked to pay the amount through Rajmal, who acted as a middleman.

During verification on February 27, 2026, the demand for the bribe amount was confirmed. It was decided that ₹8,000 would be paid before completing the registry, while the remaining amount would be paid afterwards.

Acting on the complaint, the ACB team carried out a trap operation under the supervision of Deputy Inspector General Dr. Rameshwar Singh and under the leadership of Additional Superintendent of Police Vikram Singh of ACB Pratapgarh. During the operation, Rajmal was caught red-handed while accepting ₹8,000 as bribe on behalf of the Gram Vikas Adhikari.

Officials also conducted a mobile conversation between Rajmal and Yashwant Joshi, during which the VDO allegedly gave approval regarding the bribe amount and asked the complainant to come to the E-Mitra centre to sign the registry documents. Based on this evidence and his involvement in the case, Yashwant Joshi was also arrested after questioning.

ACB officials said that further questioning of the accused is underway. A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and further investigation is in progress.
