Udaipur, March 28: Panic erupted in Kundau village of the Gogunda area on Saturday morning when a woman climbed a water tank to demand the search for her missing husband. This high-stakes situation lasted nearly six hours, putting local authorities and police in a difficult position. Ultimately, the woman agreed to come down after being assured that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) would be formed.
According to reports, 27-year-old Kamla Bai ascended the village’s water tank around 7:30 AM, shouting for help in locating her husband. She made it clear that she would not come down until the police provided concrete information about him. During her protest, she even threatened to commit suicide, escalating tensions among the gathered crowd.
Kamla’s husband, 29-year-old Tulsi Ram Gameti, has been missing for 43 days. Family members stated that he left home on February 15 under the pretext of transporting cement with another individual but never returned. A report was filed at the Gogunda police station, but the lack of substantial leads has led to growing frustration among the family and villagers.
Upon receiving news of the incident, police and administrative officials quickly mobilized. Officers including ASP Anjana Sukhalwal, Girwa DSP Rajesh Yadav, trainee IPS Asima Wadhwani, SDM Shubham Bhisare, Tehsildar Praneen Kumar Saini, and Gogunda Station House Officer Shyam Singh Charan arrived at the scene. Additionally, a team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) was deployed.
For about five hours, officials stood at the base of the tank, attempting to persuade Kamla and her family to come down. Hundreds of villagers and members of the tribal community gathered, expressing their anger towards the police.
Kamla revealed that her husband was the sole breadwinner for their family, which includes three small children. His disappearance has created a significant livelihood crisis for them. She accused the police of not taking the case seriously in the early days of the investigation.
Under increasing pressure, the police issued posters seeking information about Tulsi Ram and announced a reward of one lakh rupees for any leads. However, no success has been reported so far, prompting Kamla to take such drastic action.
