2025 Suzuki Alto Facelift Breaks Cover: Fresh Looks, Smart Features & 28.2 km/l Mileage

New Delhi: Suzuki has officially unveiled the mid-life facelift of its beloved ninth-generation Alto in Japan. The 2025 Suzuki Alto brings in thoughtful cosmetic updates, a dose of new tech, and improved fuel efficiency—all while maintaining its reputation as an affordable, no-nonsense city commuter.

Maruti Alto

While the Indian-market Alto focuses primarily on affordability, the Japanese counterpart continues to evolve as a premium Kei car with practical features, a compact footprint, and even all-wheel-drive (AWD) capabilities.

What’s New in the 2025 Suzuki Alto?

The 2025 Alto facelift subtly enhances the car’s design without straying too far from its identity. It features a more sculpted front fascia, including a cradle-like grille with a built-in radar sensor. This not only gives it a more modern look but also unlocks advanced driver-assist systems. The front and rear bumpers now get a smoother, rounded treatment, and the lower grille is more pronounced.

A new Terracotta Pink shade joins the paint palette, alongside eight monotone and four dual-tone options. The earlier white roof dual-tone has been replaced by Soft Beige, while the black roof remains available for select colors.

Refined Yet Functional Styling

Design tweaks like a redesigned roof spoiler give the Alto a more squared-off stance when viewed from the side, although the rear styling remains familiar. Suzuki has kept the boxy proportions that help maximize cabin space—ideal for city parking and tight traffic maneuvers.

Notably, the facelift includes Dual Sensor Brake Support II, enabling features like Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Departure Assist, Rear Parking Sensors, and Low-Speed Braking Support. These improvements elevate the Alto’s safety credentials, making it one of the more secure options in the Kei car segment.

Interior and Tech Upgrades

Inside, the biggest change is the optional 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system equipped with Suzuki Connect telematics, allowing real-time diagnostics, geo-fencing, and remote access features.

The minimalist dashboard remains unchanged, with a dashboard-mounted gear selector, power windows, manual climate controls, and a lack of a center console—common in Kei car designs. It retains a 4-seater layout, offering functional storage with dual cupholders and practical door pockets.

Engine Options and Fuel Efficiency

Suzuki continues with its proven powertrains for the facelifted Alto:

  • 0.65L Petrol (NA): Produces 45 bhp and 55 Nm, paired with a CVT gearbox and optional AWD.

  • 0.65L Mild-Hybrid Petrol: Delivers 48 bhp and 58 Nm, and also comes with a CVT and optional AWD. The highlight here is the class-leading fuel efficiency of 28.2 km/l, making it one of the most economical options in its segment.

Final Word: Should You Consider It?

The 2025 Suzuki Alto facelift is more than just a cosmetic refresh—it’s a well-thought-out evolution that keeps the vehicle relevant for the modern commuter. With enhanced safety features, updated tech, new styling, and unmatched mileage, the Alto remains an ideal option for urban drivers who want economy without sacrificing reliability or modern conveniences.

While this version is currently available only in the Japanese domestic market, many of its updates could influence the next-generation Alto for India.
