85 Lakh Voters to Elect 3,314 Sarpanches and 28,682 Ward Panches Today in 16 Rajasthan Districts
Polling for 3,314 sarpanch and 28,682 ward panch posts will see 85 lakh voters casting ballots today in 16 Rajasthan districts using ballot papers.
Jaipur, October 24 (Daily Udaipur) : Today, 85 lakh voters will decide the fate of 3,314 sarpanch (village head) and 28,682 ward panch (ward member) posts across 3,314 panchayats in 16 districts of Rajasthan. Voting is being held for both sarpanch and ward panch positions.

Polling will take place from 7 am to 6 pm on Saturday, with 9,886 polling stations set up for this first phase. Voting will be conducted using ballot papers, unlike the previous first phase when electronic voting machines (EVMs) were used.
Each voter will cast two votes: one for the sarpanch and another for the ward panch, using separate ballot papers for each post.
Counting of votes will begin after polling ends. Results are expected to be declared the same day, Saturday. However, due to the use of ballot papers, the announcement of results will take longer compared to EVMs. In places where recording is required, counting may continue late into the night.
Counting will first be conducted for ward panch votes, followed by sarpanch votes. Sarpanch results are expected by night.
These elections are not held on party symbols, and no party tickets are issued. Despite being non-party-based, contests remain closely fought, with local village politics playing a decisive role.
