Western Disturbance May Bring Temporary Relief to Parts of Eastern RAJASTHAN
Jaipur, April 16, 2025 — Rajasthan continues to reel under an intense heatwave, with temperatures soaring across the state. Jaisalmer recorded a searing 46°C on Tuesday, marking the highest temperature in the region, while Phalodi registered the hottest night with a minimum of 29.6°C. The Rajasthan Meteorological Centre has forecast potential relief in the form of light rain and thunderstorms over parts of eastern Rajasthan on April 17 and 18 due to an incoming western disturbance.

Director of the Meteorological Centre, Radheshyam Sharma, stated that a weak western disturbance is expected to trigger isolated thunderstorm activity, cloud development, and mild to moderate dust storms, particularly in areas like Jaipur, Shekhawati, and Bharatpur divisions.
Relentless Heatwave Conditions Prevail in Western Rajasthan
Despite the brief forecasted respite in the east, most cities across Rajasthan remain under the grip of extreme heat. Western Rajasthan, especially border areas, is expected to see daytime temperatures ranging between 45-46°C on April 17, with widespread heatwave conditions and localized severe heatwave and “hot night” conditions likely.
Temperatures in Jaipur also continue to climb, with the city recording a maximum of 39°C and a minimum of 25.7°C, showing a steady increase of 0.6°C and 0.3°C respectively over the previous day.
The weather department has warned of rising temperatures over the next three days, with an estimated increase of 3-4°C in many areas across the state. Residents have been advised to stay indoors during peak hours and stay hydrated.
