Rajasthan Regal Leads in PGTI 72 League Final Race

Mumbai, March 3: The DP World PGTI’s new professional golf league, the PGTI 72 League, has entered an exciting phase as the race for the finals heats up. The tournament, hosted at the Classic Golf and Country Club in Nuh, now features four teams vying for a spot in the finals.

After the fourth round, Rajasthan Regal tops the leaderboard with 39 points, closely followed by UP Prometheans with 35 points. Both teams started the day with 32 points, but Rajasthan managed to pull ahead after the day’s play. The final league match will see these two teams face off, adding to the excitement.

Nava Raipur and Charminar Champions also have a solid chance to qualify for the finals, each sitting at 31 points, just four points behind UP Prometheans.

Rajasthan’s players delivered impressive performances. The duo of Chikaranappa S. and Dhruv Shyoran secured a crucial match draw. Meanwhile, Honey Baisoya showcased exceptional skill, scoring six birdies and one eagle. He, along with captain Amardeep Singh Malik, defeated the opposing team’s Prabhakaran and Michelle Ortolani by 4 and 3. Captain Ajitesh Sandhu also won his singles match, stating that the team must perform even better in the next match to secure their place in the finals.

On the other hand, UP Prometheans struggled against Mumbai Aces, managing to add only three points. Captain Bhattacharya performed well with a long birdie putt but acknowledged that the team needs to improve against Rajasthan.

Nava Raipur and Charminar Champions remain in contention with 31 points each. Notably, Anant Singh Ahlawat from Nava Raipur remains unbeaten in the league.

In the standings, Mumbai Aces sit at fifth place with 24 points, while Kolkata Classics are at the bottom with just 11 points. The final round of the league phase will take place on Tuesday, determining which two teams will advance to the finals.
