Bharatpur, March 23:
In Bharatpur, a significant controversy has erupted regarding the proposed construction of an overbridge in the Surajpol area. Local residents and community members have united against plans to remove a nearly 200-year-old ancient temple and a statue of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule, which are set to be affected by the project.
On Monday, a large group of women, children, and individuals from various societal backgrounds gathered to stage a vigorous protest against the administration.
“The overbridge is proposed at Surajpol Chowk, which requires the removal of structures on both sides of the road. This includes the historic Hanuman temple and the statue of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule, which the administration considers encroachments,” stated a local resident.
Following the rally, a delegation of 11 individuals met with the collector to present their demands. The community has urged the administration to preserve the temple and statue in their current locations.
