Jaisalmer, April 24: Rajasthan Congress President Govind Singh Dotsera emphasized the need for every party worker to dedicate themselves to strengthening the party. He stated, “Only when the party is strong will governments be formed.” Speaking at a district-level public meeting held at the Rajput Seva Sadan in Phalsund village, Dotsera criticized the BJP government and its Chief Minister.
Dotsera remarked that even BJP leaders did not anticipate that a BJP government would emerge in Rajasthan, nor did Bhajanlal Sharma expect to become Chief Minister. He humorously noted that Sharma was seeking a ticket from Bharatpur, and had he received it, he would have faced significant challenges. He pointed out that Sanganeer is a traditional BJP seat, yet Sharma managed to win there.
The Congress leader highlighted the achievements of the previous Congress government, which included waiving farmers’ loans, providing free electricity, and initiating free healthcare and ration kits. He criticized the BJP government for failing to deliver any benefits to the public, claiming that promises regarding wheat MSP remain unfulfilled and that unemployment is rampant.
Dotsera accused the BJP government of shutting down English medium schools established by the Congress government. He also alleged that BJP leaders misuse agencies like the ED and CBI for political gain. He shared that the ED had conducted a raid at his place but found nothing, quipping, “When locusts come, they damage crops, but when the ED came here, it found only emptiness.”
He further alleged that the state government is deliberately delaying municipal and panchayat elections, despite clear legal provisions for them. Dotsera asserted that Congress would fight for these elections from the streets to the assembly.
During the meeting, Congress in-charge for Madhya Pradesh and Harish Chaudhary criticized the government over the drinking water crisis in Pokaran and western Rajasthan, stating that the situation is dire, with “water not even visible.” He accused the state of halting development projects for over two and a half years.
Congress MP from Barmer-Jaisalmer, Ummedaram Beniwal, urged party workers to unite and strengthen the organization. Former cabinet minister Shale Mohammad echoed this sentiment, noting the lack of development in the Pokaran area over the past two and a half years, leaving the public in distress.
Ruparam Dhandhe called on workers to work together to secure a majority for Congress in the upcoming panchayat and municipal elections. Earlier, Jaisalmer Congress Committee District President Amardeen Fakir provided insights into the organizational status of the district. The event was attended by several leaders, including former district chief Anjana Meghwal, Mahendra Chaudhary, Barmer district president Lakshman Godara, and others. The program was conducted by Abdullah Fakir and Mangal Khan.
