New Delhi, April 25: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a significant decision to include 33% women in leadership positions within the new team led by National President Nitin Naveen. This initiative aims to enhance women’s participation in the party’s organizational structure. The new formula will be implemented from the parliamentary board level down to the national secretary level, with plans to adopt similar arrangements in state units as well.
According to party sources, the process of implementing this new system has already begun under the supervision of the organization’s general secretary. BJP leadership believes that a stronger presence of women in the organization will broaden the party’s support base.
Following the failure of the Nari Vandan Bill in Parliament, the BJP has adopted a stance portraying other political parties as anti-women. Consequently, it is considered politically and organizationally essential to increase women’s representation within the party.
Currently, there is only one woman member on the parliamentary board, and there are no women officials at the general secretary level. The number of women in the positions of vice president and national secretary is also limited. Reports indicate that women’s representation in the national executive is less than 10%. According to the new formula, the 12-member parliamentary board will now include four women. Among the seven general secretary positions, two will be women, while four out of twelve vice president positions and three out of eleven national secretary positions will also be allocated to women.
A senior party leader has stated that this time, over 100 women will be included in the national executive, which currently comprises a total of 396 members. This move by the BJP is seen as a crucial step towards empowering women and increasing their political representation within the organization. It is expected that this will strengthen women’s roles in state units in the future.
