Barmer, June 30: Barmer-Jaisalmer MP Ummedaram Beniwal has described the fire incident at the Pachpadra Refinery, which occurred just before its inauguration, as extremely serious and concerning. Speaking to the media in Jodhpur, he stated that the investigation report regarding this incident has not yet been made public, leaving the public unaware of the actual cause of the fire.
Beniwal accused the management of the large project of serious lapses in safety and oversight. He demanded that the investigation report be released immediately and that strict action be taken against anyone found negligent.
Right to Know: Beniwal
Beniwal emphasized that the Pachpadra Refinery is a crucial project for Rajasthan, particularly for western Rajasthan. Therefore, an incident like a fire in the refinery premises cannot be taken lightly. He asserted that the public has every right to know the reasons behind the incident and what actions have been taken afterward.
He insisted that if the investigation report is ready, it should be disclosed. If it is not yet prepared, the government must clarify why there is a delay in the investigation.
Demand for Accountability
The MP stated that if negligence is found on the part of any official, agency, or construction-related party in the fire incident, strict action should be taken against them. He warned that ignoring safety standards in large industrial projects could lead to even bigger disasters in the future.
Beniwal stressed the need for transparency regarding safety measures, fire safety, technical monitoring, and emergency management in sensitive projects like the refinery.
Welcoming the Prime Minister’s Visit
Beniwal welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed visit on July 4. He urged that the discussions during the visit should not be limited to inaugurations and events but should also address previous commitments and pending issues.
He noted that the Pachpadra Refinery holds great promise for regional development, employment, local industries, and the general public. Therefore, the government must ensure that the promises related to the project are fulfilled and that local people benefit genuinely.
Need for Transparency on Refinery Issues
Beniwal remarked that the Pachpadra Refinery is considered a project that could change the economic landscape of western Rajasthan. Thus, there should be transparency regarding every incident, safety measures, and administrative actions related to it.
He urged the government to make the fire investigation report public to clarify the entire situation to the public. Additionally, effective safety measures should be implemented to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
