Bhilwara, October 2: During a recent visit to Bhilwara, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat targeted the Congress party and its state president, Govind Singh Dotasra. Shekhawat stopped briefly in Bhilwara while en route to Chittorgarh and participated in the Seva Sankalp campaign, where he also paid tribute at the statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
In a media interaction, Shekhawat questioned Congress’s statements regarding Gandhi Jayanti and non-violence. He emphasized that political parties and those in responsible positions should reflect on their past records before blaming others.
As part of the Seva Sankalp campaign, Shekhawat engaged in a heartfelt dialogue with BJP workers and the district team. This interaction allowed him to closely understand the organization’s operations and provided an opportunity to converse with the media.
Targeting Dotasra
Shekhawat specifically mentioned Dotasra, recalling his presence at a protest in Delhi holding a placard stating ‘No Cheating Allowed.’ He accused Dotasra of failing to address issues related to recruitment and examination systems during his tenure as Education Minister, suggesting that individuals in responsible positions should engage in self-reflection.
These allegations have been made by BJP leaders, while Dotasra and Congress have previously dismissed such claims as political attacks. Independent verification of these accusations has not occurred.
Addressing EWS Discrepancies
Shekhawat also commented on the rules surrounding the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) reservation. He noted that certain eligibility provisions are causing difficulties for Rajasthan’s youth, and discussions are ongoing at the government level to resolve these discrepancies.
He claimed to have raised this issue first in the Lok Sabha and later discussed it with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Home Minister. Shekhawat described the EWS reservation as a significant initiative by the central government for economically weaker families in the general category.
Response to Ravindra Bhati’s Journey
Regarding the journey led by independent MLA Ravindra Singh Bhati advocating for the simplification of EWS rules, Shekhawat stated that every elected representative has the right to voice their demands. He mentioned that he is also making efforts on this issue. Bhati’s journey is currently traversing various areas in western Rajasthan.
Praising Captain Smita Machhar
Shekhawat commended Indian pilot Captain Smita Machhar for her bravery during a flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv. Despite sustaining serious injuries, she assisted in ensuring the safety of passengers aboard the aircraft during the incident on September 30. Prime Minister Modi also praised her courage in a video call on October 2.
Warm Welcome in Bhilwara
Upon arriving in Bhilwara, Shekhawat was welcomed by District Collector Jasmeet Singh Sandhu, Superintendent of Police Sagar Rana, Mandal MLA Udaylal Bhadhana, and Sahada MLA Ladulal Pitalia, among other representatives. Following the welcome, he departed for Chittorgarh.
Notably, Bhilwara is among the three districts mentioned in a recent order from the state Congress committee, which established a nine-member committee to investigate complaints regarding local body elections.
