Jaipur, August 20: Congress National General Secretary and Tonk MLA Sachin Pilot has launched a scathing attack on the state government and the Education Minister regarding the ongoing controversy surrounding media coverage in Rajasthan’s government schools. Pilot stated that attempts to restrict journalists’ access to schools, including taking photos and videos, are akin to hiding the real conditions from the public. He has called for the resignation of the Education Minister.
Pilot emphasized that the situation in Rajasthan’s government schools is deteriorating. Many school buildings are in disrepair, and there is a lack of basic facilities. Preventing media from showcasing the true state of these schools is unacceptable.
Government Hiding Its Mistakes
Pilot remarked, “Journalists cannot enter schools, take photos, or make videos. This is merely an attempt to hide their mistakes.” He accused the government of creating systems that prevent the public from seeing the dire conditions of the schools instead of improving them.
Reference to Jhalawar School Incident
Pilot referenced the tragic incident involving a school building in Jhalawar, raising questions about the government’s accountability. He noted that serious incidents, including the loss of children’s lives due to dilapidated school buildings, have occurred. He insisted that after such events, the government’s priority should be to enhance school safety and infrastructure.
This is Completely Unacceptable
Pilot stated that if journalists cannot visit schools to observe the conditions and cannot present the reality through photos and videos, it will compromise transparency. He labeled the government’s decision as “completely unacceptable” and insisted that the Education Minister should take responsibility and resign. The issue of media coverage in schools is rapidly becoming a significant controversy in Rajasthan’s politics. Congress legislators have already protested outside the assembly regarding this matter. Following Pilot’s statements, the opposition has intensified its demand for the Education Minister’s resignation.
