Controversy Erupts Over Madan Rathores Comments on Pakistan: Congress Calls It Treason

Jaipur, October 17: The political landscape in Rajasthan has become heated following comments made by BJP state president Madan Rathore regarding Pakistan. Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasra has labeled Rathore’s remarks as “treason,” asserting that they disrespect the sacrifices of Indian soldiers. In a post on social media platform X, Dotasra referred to Rathore’s comments as “Pakistani love,” emphasizing that they pertain to a nation that kills Indian citizens and spreads terror. Rathore had previously claimed that his remarks were made in the context of a cricket match and were taken out of context.

Dotasra stated, “This love for Pakistan by the BJP is not only an insult to our brave soldiers but also constitutes treason.” He criticized the BJP for distributing certificates of patriotism while, according to him, having Pakistan ingrained in their very being. Dotasra also pointed out that history shows the BJP has consistently aligned with anti-national forces.

‘An Insult to Martyrdom and Treason’

Dotasra emphasized that the BJP’s sentiments are offensive to the sacrifices made by Indian soldiers and millions of Indians. He accused the party of harboring a deep connection with Pakistan.

Dotasra referenced several historical instances, including:

– LK Advani’s visit to Jinnah’s mausoleum in Karachi in 2005.
– Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s bus journey to Lahore in 1999.
– Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s unannounced visit to Lahore in 2015.

Rathore’s Defense

Madan Rathore responded to the controversy on the same day, clarifying that during an event in Jaipur commemorating former President APJ Abdul Kalam, he spoke about patriotism and used the India-Pakistan cricket match as an example. He insisted that there was no mention of war and that clips of his speech were taken out of context. Rathore stated that India shares a hostile relationship with Pakistan, which harbors terrorism, and thus there is no question of siding with them.

According to news agency ANI, Rathore also remarked that if a conflict arises between the U.S. and Pakistan, India would stand with Pakistan as a neighbor. However, in the event of a conflict between India and Pakistan, he affirmed that India would always come first. This part of his statement sparked controversy when clips circulated on social media.

As of now, there has been no official response from the BJP or Rathore regarding Dotasra’s accusations. Previously, members of the Aam Aadmi Party and Congress spokesperson Dr. Shama Mohammad have also criticized the BJP over this statement, with Congress demanding action against Rathore.
