New Delhi, October 17: Abhijit Deepke, the founder of the Cockroach People’s Party (CJP), is set to appear before a special executive magistrate’s court today. He was taken into custody by Delhi police on Friday ahead of the planned ‘Lahra Do Tiranga’ march in Connaught Place. Following this, he was arrested as a precautionary legal measure.
The Delhi police have acted under Sections 126 and 170 of the Indian National Security Code (BNSC) against Deepke. This action was taken due to concerns about potential disturbances to public peace and law and order.
Section 126 pertains to security-related actions to maintain peace, while Section 170 allows for precautionary arrests to prevent cognizable offenses.
This marks the second police action against Deepke within eight days. Previously, he was detained at Delhi Airport upon disembarking from a flight on October 10. He was released the following day after an order from the special executive magistrate’s court.
Following his detention again before the protest on Friday, discussions about Deepke’s legal situation have intensified.
Today’s court appearance will address the legal aspects related to the police’s precautionary actions and custody. The court will determine the next steps based on the facts presented and the arguments from both sides.
