Mumbai, October 20: Internal conflicts within the Congress party have surfaced prominently in Karauli. Anita Jatav, the Congress MLA from Hindon, has accused the district president and Todabhim MLA, Ghanshyam Mehar, of selling tickets for two wards in the district council elections. This has led to a public confrontation between the two legislators.
Jatav claims that her constituency was supposed to receive seven tickets, but she only received five. She alleges that tickets for wards 31 and 33 were sold off. Furthermore, she has accused the district president of arbitrary decision-making and has sought a meeting with former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot regarding the matter. As of now, neither Ghanshyam Mehar nor the state leadership has responded to these allegations.
A nine-member committee was formed by the state Congress committee to investigate complaints related to the municipal elections. The committee, headed by former Assembly Speaker Dr. C.P. Joshi, was tasked with submitting a report within seven days. However, it has been 18 days since the order was issued, surpassing the deadline by 11 days. Copies of the order were also sent to AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal and state in-charge Sukjinder Singh Randhawa, indicating that further decisions will be made at the central leadership level.
In Bharatpur, former minister Vishvendra Singh is already in conflict with the state leadership. After receiving a show-cause notice from the disciplinary committee, he retaliated via a Facebook post, questioning whether the committee chairman Udaylal Anjana should respond to the notice or the state president’s statement first. Despite the ongoing tensions, he has not left the party.
Similar conflicts have been observed in Bhilwara, where former minister Ramlal Jat and former MLA Dheeraj Gurjar have been at odds since August. Their disagreements became evident during a meeting in the Congress war room in Jaipur concerning municipal tickets. State President Govind Singh Dotasra and Leader of Opposition Tikaram Julie had to intervene to calm the situation. During the ongoing panchayat elections, activities from both factions have emerged once again.
In Jaipur, the city Congress president and former president have also been operating separately. According to party insiders, inaugurations of council offices have been conducted by both factions in various locations.
