BJPs Commitment to Transparency and Accountability in Panchayati Raj Elections

Jaipur, October 21: Ahead of the first phase of the Panchayati Raj elections, BJP state president Madan Rathore emphasized that these elections are not just about selecting representatives but also about providing a new direction for village development and farmer welfare. He stated that the BJP aims to enhance transparency, accountability, and public participation in panchayats, ensuring that government schemes benefit farmers, the poor, women, youth, and marginalized communities.

Rathore also shared statistics related to farmer welfare schemes. He revealed that under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, over 76.18 lakh farmers in the state have received more than ₹14,405 crore, while 1.09 crore farmers have been granted interest-free short-term agricultural loans amounting to ₹67,293 crore.

Proposal to Increase Kisan Samman Nidhi

Rathore announced that the annual assistance under the Chief Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi has been increased from ₹2,000 to ₹3,000, with plans to raise it further to ₹6,000. Combined with the central government’s ₹6,000, farmers currently receive ₹9,000 annually. If the state contribution reaches ₹6,000, the total will rise to ₹12,000, a promise made by the BJP in its Gram Vikas Sankalp Patra released on October 11.

Focus on Animal Husbandry and Livelihood

Rathore stressed the importance of strengthening the rural economy by promoting agriculture alongside animal husbandry and other livelihood activities. He noted that merely providing assistance during the harvest is insufficient; farmers need support across all levels, including income assistance, affordable loans, risk protection, and investment in agriculture.

He emphasized that expanding basic facilities such as drinking water, rural roads, sanitation, agricultural services, animal husbandry, and employment is essential for empowering panchayats. Comprehensive village development can only occur when panchayats implement plans tailored to local needs.

The first phase of the Panchayati Raj elections is scheduled for Thursday, October 22.
