Astrology Conclave Jyotish Manthan Kicks Off at Mohanlal Sukhadia University

Udaipur, March 15: The two-day annual conference ‘Jyotish Manthan’ commenced on Saturday at the Swarna Jayanti Guest House auditorium, organized by the Department of Sanskrit and the Institute of Astrology Studies and Research at Mohanlal Sukhadia University.

The inaugural session featured former Vice-Chancellor of the Sanskrit University, Professor Vinod Shastri, as the chief guest. He emphasized that ancient scriptures, texts, and commentaries were written in accordance with the circumstances of their time. With the advent of new technologies and communication tools, there is a pressing need to reinterpret these ancient teachings. Astrologers must adapt their approaches to reflect contemporary realities. He noted that relying solely on ancient formulas can lead to disappointment when outcomes do not align with expectations. A fresh perspective is essential for analyzing ancient astrological science today.

Professor Shastri urged a reevaluation of current practices among Vastu experts, suggesting that it is crucial to consider not just directions but also planetary positions, as building conditions have evolved. He pointed out that homes are meant for peace, which requires effort. He also mentioned that marriages today often focus on financial packages rather than compatibility, leading to increased divorce rates. Delays in marriages are another contributing factor. Astrologers should not act as agents of Brahma but should provide insights based on practical and situational contexts.

In his presidential address, Professor Neeraj Sharma, head of the Sanskrit Department, elaborated on the guru-shishya tradition. The annual commemorative publication was also launched during this event.

Pandit Harishchandra Sharma, president of the Institute of Astrology Studies and Research, provided illustrated information about the effects of various planets in a birth chart. The session was moderated by Dr. Murli Dhar Paliwal, while the report was presented by the institute’s secretary, Dr. Suresh Joshi. Thanks were extended by Dilip Sharma.

Other Sessions on Day One: Research Discussions

Dr. Manish Kashyap discussed past life connections and current relationships through various medical case studies.
