New Delhi, January 19 – TVS Motor Company has created a buzz at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 by unveiling the world’s first CNG-powered scooter, the Jupiter 125 CNG. Presented as a concept model, the scooter represents a significant step toward sustainable urban mobility. Based on the popular Jupiter 125 platform, the CNG variant positions itself as an economical and environmentally friendly alternative for commuters.

The Jupiter 125 CNG is equipped with a 9-litre CNG tank, capable of holding 1.4 kg of gas, ingeniously placed under the seat where the standard model’s storage space is located. The addition of a concealed pressure gauge and refill nozzle ensures user convenience without compromising safety. Notably, the petrol tank has been reduced to 2 litres from the standard 5 litres to optimize space for the dual-fuel system. Despite these adjustments, the scooter maintains its practicality with features like hooks and floorboard storage.
TVS claims the Jupiter 125 CNG delivers a combined range of 226 km, with an impressive 84 km/kg efficiency on CNG alone. The dual-fuel capability allows riders to seamlessly switch between petrol and CNG, offering flexibility for varying commute needs. With a running cost of just ₹1 per kilometre, the scooter promises significant savings for daily riders.
Under the hood, the Jupiter 125 CNG is powered by a reengineered 124.8 cc single-cylinder engine that produces 7.1 bhp and 9.4 Nm of torque. The top speed is capped at 80 km/h, ensuring efficiency without compromising performance. TVS has retained the scooter’s core design elements, with only minor aesthetic changes like CNG branding on the apron, making it visually consistent with its petrol counterpart.
The concept reflects TVS’s commitment to innovation and sustainability, and the company is gauging public interest before confirming a launch date. If the response is favorable, the Jupiter 125 CNG could debut in the market later this year, further strengthening TVS’s portfolio in the green mobility segment.
With rising fuel prices and growing environmental concerns, the TVS Jupiter 125 CNG has the potential to redefine affordable and sustainable commuting in India, making it a game-changer in the two-wheeler market.
