Chittorgarh, March 9 (Daily Udaipur) — The annual Jauhar Mela, organised in memory of the brave women of Mewar, will be held from March 13 to 15 in Chittorgarh. This year, the main tribute ceremony along with the procession will be organised in the city at Inani City Center on Setu Marg, instead of the fort.

According to organisers, the change in venue has been made because Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will attend the ceremony as the chief guest for the first time.
Details of the three-day event were shared during a press conference held on Sunday at Jauhar Bhavan by Jauhar Smriti Sansthan President Rao Narendra Singh Vijaypur, Vice President Shakti Singh Muraliya, Women Vice President Nirmala Kanwar Rathore, General Secretary Tejpal Singh Shaktawat, Joint Secretary Gajraj Singh Barada, and Treasurer Govardhan Singh Bhati.
General Secretary Tejpal Singh Shaktawat said that on the main day, Sunday, the programme will begin at 7 am with pooja at Jauhar Jyoti Temple. At 7:30 am, a grand procession will start from Bhupal Chhatralaya on Bhilwara Road and will pass through different routes before reaching Inani City Center, where it will culminate in the tribute ceremony.
The procession will feature elephants, horses, camels, tableaux, and a police band. Cultural performances will also be presented with the support of the West Zone Cultural Centre, Udaipur, including Lal Angi Ger, Holi on Chang, Kachhi Ghodi dance, and akhada demonstrations by Mahavir Vyayamshala. The final offering of the yajna-havan will be performed at the Jauhar site near Vijay Stambh, and rituals will also take place at memorials of martyrs on the fort.
The main ceremony will be held under the chairmanship of Mewar Maharana Vishvaraj Singh, with Rajmata Nirupama Kumari as patron and Maharani Mahima Kumari providing guidance.
Along with Chief Guest Yogi Adityanath, Baba Niranjan Nath, founder of Shri Guru Gorakhdham Seva Pranyas, Gaoghat (Atru, Baran district), will attend as the religious leader.
Among the distinguished guests will be Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, State Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, and Minister of State for Cooperation Gautam Dak.
Other invited guests include former Governor VP Singh Badnore, MP CP Joshi, MLAs Shrichand Kriplani (Nimbahera), Ravindra Singh Bhati (Shiv), Chandrabhan Singh Akya (Chittorgarh), Arjunlal Jingar (Kapasan), and Suresh Dhakad (Begun) along with several local public representatives.
Organisers said that the tribute ceremony is traditionally held at Fateh Prakash Palace courtyard inside the fort. In 1991, when former Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar attended the event, the ceremony was organised at Chogania Ground on the fort. This year, for the first time, it will be held in the city considering the security arrangements, crowd size, and vehicle movement related to the visit of CM Yogi Adityanath.
