Quetta, February 28: A disturbing case of alleged extrajudicial killing of a Baloch student has emerged in Balochistan. A prominent human rights organization reported this claim on Saturday.
According to the Baloch Youth Committee (BYC), the mutilated body of 26-year-old Imran Taj was discovered on Friday in the Turbat area of Kech district. The organization stated that he had been forcibly disappeared for the past nine months.
The BYC expressed, “This tragic incident has left his family and the entire Baloch community in deep shock.”
Imran Taj was a student at Turbat University. He was reportedly abducted on June 27, 2025, while returning home after classes, allegedly by personnel from Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Frontier Corps.
The BYC condemned this incident, alleging that forced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and targeted violence are on the rise in Balochistan. The organization urged international human rights groups and the United Nations to take notice of the situation in Balochistan and ensure the protection of Baloch people’s rights.
The statement emphasized, “The Baloch people have the right to life, security, and justice. No family should be forced to live in fear and mourning while those responsible escape accountability. Our struggle is not born from hatred but from the need to protect our people’s dignity and human rights.”
Meanwhile, the Balochistan human rights Council (BHRC) expressed deep concern over the escalating violence in the region. The organization reported that on February 25, unidentified armed individuals attacked in the Minaz area of Kech district, killing six people and injuring three others, including women and children.
According to the BHRC, the attackers first fired mortars at a house and then opened heavy gunfire on those inside. They also set ablaze three vehicles parked outside the residence.
The organization stated, “The killing of innocent civilians, especially women and children, is a grave violation of fundamental human rights and humanitarian principles. No political objective or security argument can justify such acts.”
