Congress and BJP Announce Candidates for Jaipur District Council Elections

Jaipur, October 13: The Congress party has officially announced its candidates for all 57 wards of the Jaipur District Council. This announcement follows the BJP’s declaration of candidates for 55 out of the 57 wards, with Ward 33 and Ward 56 still pending. Both parties released their lists ahead of the final nomination deadline on October 13.

The Congress list was issued in two parts: List-01 includes 25 names, while List-02 contains 32, totaling 57 candidates. These lists were released from the Indira Gandhi Bhawan, Station Road office of the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee. The announcement was made under the direction of state president Govind Singh Dotasra, with R.C. Chaudhary’s signature indicating his position as General Secretary and in charge of Jaipur Rural.

Differences in Candidate Lists

The declaration and the filing of nominations are distinct phases. The release of the list does not imply that all candidates have submitted their nominations.

Women Candidates: 28 Nominated

The Congress list features 28 female candidates and 29 male candidates. This number matches the 28 seats reserved for women in the BJP’s list. A comparison reveals that both parties share candidates in 27 wards. However, in Ward 27, the Congress has nominated a female candidate, while the BJP’s reservation column only indicates “SC,” without mentioning female or open categories. This discrepancy arises from an incomplete entry in the BJP’s list, making it not solely attributable to either party.

In summary: Congress has announced candidates for all 57 wards, while the BJP has declared candidates for 55, leaving 2 wards (33 and 56) unannounced. The Congress list includes 28 women and 29 men, with List-01 having 25 names and List-02 containing 32.

Notable Candidates

According to the party’s announcement, Mohan Dagar from Ward 12 and Yashveer Soora from Ward 28 have been nominated. Mohan Dagar is noted as the Deputy District Head, while Yashveer Soora serves as the Executive President of the Youth Congress, based on party information. Interestingly, the candidates for Wards 46 and 47 share the same name, Sita Meena, but are different individuals as indicated by their fathers’ names.
