Jaipur, October 22: In a dramatic turn of events, Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra suffered an injury during a protest at the Jaipur Police Commissionerate on Wednesday morning. While demanding a zero FIR in the Ritu Barala case, Dotasra slipped and fell, injuring his toe. The incident caused a commotion, with fellow leaders and supporters rushing to assist him, helping him back to a chair.
Dotasra has been leading the protest since Monday evening, marking the third day of their sit-in at the Commissionerate. He and several Congress leaders have been sleeping on-site, alongside female workers who have also been staying overnight for two consecutive nights.
In a statement on Wednesday, Dotasra emphasized that their fight is for justice for a daughter of Rajasthan, clarifying that they have no conflict with the Rajasthan police. Tensions escalated on Tuesday, resulting in clashes between protesters and police, culminating in a baton charge on demonstrators late that night.
Dotasra also addressed comments made by BJP state president Madan Rathore regarding Pakistan. He asserted that the Congress protest is not a diversion from the issue at hand, questioning Rathore’s significance in light of past political resignations. “If Advani resigned over such matters, what is Madan Rathore?” he remarked.
Rathore, who currently heads the BJP in the state, has previously commented on the Ritu Barala case, but the party has yet to announce any resignation. He has defended his remarks about Pakistan, claiming they were taken out of context during a discussion about a cricket match.
Dotasra referenced a historical incident from 2005 when L.K. Advani resigned from the BJP presidency following controversy over comments made during a visit to Pakistan, although he later retracted his resignation.
