Congress Will Not Surrender to Modi, Says KC Venugopal Amid Rally Preparations

Jaipur, October 25: KC Venugopal, the National General Secretary of Congress, criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah during a recent meeting in Jaipur. He asserted that the Congress party will not surrender to the Prime Minister. Venugopal raised concerns about Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and stated that despite attempts by Modi and Shah to protect him, the public will not allow it. He emphasized that Congress’s protests will continue until Kumar resigns and free and fair elections are ensured in the country.

Venugopal visited Jaipur to review preparations for the Congress’s upcoming rally, part of the “Vote Save, Country Save” campaign, scheduled for November 1 at Ram Leela Maidan in Delhi. He held discussions with senior leaders, legislators, and officials from Rajasthan Congress, setting a target of mobilizing one lakh participants from the state.

In a media interaction following the meeting, Venugopal reiterated the party’s commitment to fighting for democratic rights and fair elections. He accused Modi and Shah of attempting to shield Gyanesh Kumar, asserting that citizens will not accept such actions.

He reiterated that Congress will persist in its political opposition and will not surrender to the Prime Minister. Venugopal demanded the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, stating that every citizen has the democratic right to free and fair elections.

He raised questions about the Election Commission’s procedures and alleged irregularities in the electoral process and voter lists. Venugopal confirmed that the Congress movement will continue until Kumar is removed and free elections are guaranteed.

The Congress party has launched a nationwide “Vote Save, Country Save” campaign, claiming that the removal of names from voter lists and alleged irregularities in electoral processes are infringing on citizens’ voting rights. However, these claims are political allegations and should not be viewed as established facts.

During the meeting at Constitution Club in Jaipur, Venugopal instructed state Congress leadership to expedite preparations for the rally in Delhi. The party aims to gather around one lakh participants from Rajasthan, assigning responsibilities to officials at the state, district, and block levels to connect with workers and prepare for the event.

The Congress plans to conduct a large-scale protest in Delhi on November 1, expecting participation from approximately ten lakh people nationwide. Additionally, Congress and the opposition INDIA alliance announced a symbolic “Jan Mahabhoj” program against the Chief Election Commissioner on October 30, leading up to the rally on November 1.

Addressing concerns raised by traders regarding the rally, Venugopal stated that increased attendance would lead to higher shopping activity. He noted that the rally, coinciding with the festive season, would benefit businesses rather than harm them.

Despite concerns from traders about traffic, crowding, and potential impacts on commerce, no detailed arrangements have been presented to address these issues.
