New Delhi, August 3: During the Zero Hour in the Rajya Sabha, Dr. Alka Gurjar, a Member of Parliament from Rajasthan, called for the development of a heritage corridor from Malaseri Doongri, the birthplace of Lord Devanarayan, to the Sawai Bhoj Temple. She urged the central government to allocate the necessary budget for this project.
Dr. Gurjar had the opportunity to speak during the Zero Hour for the first time. She emphasized that the proposed corridor would enhance religious tourism and preserve cultural heritage. It would also create new opportunities for self-employment and rural tourism for local youth.
Proposal to Develop Savai Bhoj Dam Like Amritsar’s Sacred Sarovar
Dr. Alka Gurjar suggested that the historic Savai Bhoj Dam be developed in a manner similar to the sacred Sarovar at the Golden Temple in Amritsar. She stated that planned development of this site would provide better facilities for devotees and tourists, helping to establish the region’s historical and religious identity on a national level.
Demand for Panorama and Digital Museum at Both Pilgrimage Sites
The Rajya Sabha MP requested the establishment of national-level panoramas at both Malaseri Doongri and the Sawai Bhoj Temple. She also proposed the development of a digital museum and an open-air theater at these sites.
According to her, these facilities would present the history, folklore, culture, and public faith associated with Lord Devanarayan and Sawai Bhoj through modern technology.
Request for Developing Four-Lane Road Connectivity
Dr. Gurjar also sought the central government’s support for developing four-lane road connectivity between the two religious sites. She noted that improved road access would facilitate the movement of devotees and tourists, benefiting nearby villages, local markets, and small businesses.
Job Opportunities for Local Youth
The MP stated that the creation of the heritage corridor would increase employment opportunities in hotels, transportation, handicrafts, local products, food, and tourism services. She claimed that the project would boost rural tourism and provide local youth with new self-employment opportunities in their area.
Promotion of Religious Tourism and Regional Development
Dr. Alka Gurjar highlighted that Malaseri Doongri and Sawai Bhoj Temple are significant religious sites tied to the faith of devotees. Developing them as a heritage corridor would simultaneously promote religious tourism, cultural preservation, and regional development.
She urged the central government to consider this proposal positively, prepare a detailed project plan, and provide the necessary financial support.
