Opposition Leaders Detained During NEET Protest March in New Delhi

New Delhi, July 22: Opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, were detained by Delhi police on Tuesday while marching towards Parliament over the NEET examination issue. Other detained leaders included Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav.

The police held most of the leaders at Chhatrasal Stadium, where they were released approximately three hours later, around 9:45 PM. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was taken to the Mandir Marg police station. Before her release, Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi visited her at the police station.

Meanwhile, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan responded to the opposition’s protest, stating that the central government was fully prepared for a discussion on the NEET issue in Parliament. He accused Rahul Gandhi of opting for a protest instead of engaging in dialogue and claimed that the Congress party was politicizing the issue at the expense of students.
