Empowering Voices: District Magistrate Addresses Womens Concerns in Rights Matter Program

Mumbai, April 2: In a significant initiative under the “Mission Shakti 5.0 Phase-2,” the “Rights Matter with the District Magistrate” program was held at the Rani Lakshmibai Auditorium in the Development Building. District Magistrate Rajesh Kumar Pandey and Superintendent of Police Vinay Kumar engaged directly with students, women, and members of self-help groups, listening to their issues and providing immediate solutions.

During the program, a student from Kasturba Gandhi Residential School, Pratiksha (Grade 7), raised concerns about the lack of a doctor at the school. The District Magistrate promptly instructed the relevant authorities to ensure necessary arrangements. Similarly, Pallavi (Grade 7) and Archana (Grade 8) shared their thoughts and challenges. A student from the Government Inter College highlighted the issue of waterlogging on the school premises during the rainy season. The District Magistrate responded seriously, directing the installation of a rainwater harvesting system and improvements to the drainage system, assuring that a permanent solution would be implemented before the next rainfall.

Rajni Khare, a member of a self-help group, shared her experiences of becoming economically self-reliant through the group by engaging in the production of bags and flags. Anita Yadav from village Amgohar raised the issue of a hand pump being monopolized by a family in her village. The District Magistrate instructed the concerned department to prioritize the release of the hand pump.

The District Magistrate emphasized that such dialogue programs under Mission Shakti provide a powerful platform for women and girls to voice their concerns. He directed officials to ensure timely, transparent, and quality resolution of all issues raised, aiming to create a safe and respectful environment for every woman and girl. He encouraged all participants to remain vigilant about their rights and strive for self-reliance.

Present at the event were Chief Development Officer KK Singh, City Magistrate Sunil Kumar, DIOS Rajkumar Pandit, and BSA Chandraprakash, among others.
