Abhijit Deepak Faces Public Backlash at Delhi Airport

New Delhi, October 14: Abhijit Deepak, the founder of the Cockroach People’s Party (CJP), encountered public discontent upon his arrival at Indira Gandhi International Airport on Wednesday afternoon. As he exited the terminal, a passenger confronted him, asking, “Why are you ruining the country, brother?”

Deepak did not respond to the remark. Instead, he simply gestured a thumbs-up and walked away. Security personnel and police intervened at the scene. The passenger had raised concerns regarding CJP’s campaign related to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the SIR.

The Bond That Became a Controversy

Previously, CJP leaders were detained for attempting to protest at Jantar Mantar without permission. They were later released on a bond of 50,000 rupees. The current allegations include violations of the conditions of this bond.

According to Ratna Singh, head of CJP’s legal team, the leaders face charges for entering Jantar Mantar without permission, breaching bond conditions, and obstructing government work.

Two Spokespersons in Judicial Custody

On Wednesday, a special executive magistrate’s court sent party spokespersons Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka to five days of judicial custody. A third leader, Ajinkya Shinde, was released on personal bail. All three were detained during a protest at Jantar Mantar on Tuesday.

Jantar Mantar was removed from the list of designated protest sites in the standing order issued on October 11. Ram Leela Ground, Burari Ground, and CBD Ground have been designated for protests instead.

When Was CJP Established?

The Cockroach People’s Party was established on May 16, 2026. Its inception followed a comment by Chief Justice Suryakant, who used the term “cockroach” to describe certain activists and unemployed youth. He later clarified that he was referring to individuals with fake degrees. Deepak has previously worked in political communication.
