LPG Cylinder Booking Alert: No e-KYC, No Cylinder – Here’s What Consumers Must Know

New Delhi – If you haven’t completed your e-KYC for LPG gas connection, you might soon find yourself unable to book a domestic gas cylinder. Oil marketing companies have issued a strict directive making e-KYC mandatory for all LPG customers across the country. Failure to comply could mean your gas booking will be denied, and you won’t receive any cylinders until the process is completed.

What’s the New Rule?

In a bid to streamline delivery and prevent misuse, e-KYC (Electronic Know Your Customer) has now been made compulsory for all domestic LPG cylinder users. Despite repeated reminders, a large number of consumers are still ignoring the requirement. As a result, gas companies are preparing to enforce strict measures, including denying bookings to non-compliant users.

Thousands Yet to Comply

The process has been in place for over a year, but recent data shows that around 47% of users in many districts have not yet completed e-KYC. For example, in one district, out of nearly 3.69 lakh LPG users, only 90,000 have completed the process. This leaves 1.7 lakh users at risk of losing access to gas bookings.

There are 37 gas agencies operating in the district, and most have already started sending SMS alerts to customers urging them to complete the e-KYC formalities as soon as possible.

How to Complete Your LPG e-KYC

To complete the e-KYC for your LPG connection, users have two options:

  1. Offline (At Gas Agency):

    • Visit your gas agency with:

      • Aadhaar card

      • LPG customer number or gas diary

      • Registered mobile phone

    • Biometric authentication will be done at the agency to complete the e-KYC process.

  2. Online (Using Mobile App):

    • Download the official app of your LPG provider (Indane, BharatGas, or HP Gas).

    • Login using your registered mobile number.

    • Follow the prompts to complete e-KYC using Aadhaar and OTP verification.

Why e-KYC Is Important

The e-KYC process ensures that LPG is delivered to the correct and verified consumer. It helps prevent misuse, duplicate bookings, and unauthorized transfers. Additionally, it allows users to update address details if they’ve shifted homes.

According to officials, the move will improve transparency, timely delivery, and allow better monitoring of LPG usage and subsidy benefits.

Final Reminder

If you are an LPG customer and haven’t completed your e-KYC yet, act now. Without it, you may not be able to book a new cylinder or receive any scheduled deliveries. Avoid last-minute hassles and ensure your gas supply continues uninterrupted.
