Jaipur, March 31: Former Union Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar has stirred controversy once again with his recent comments. During a lecture at Kanodia College in Jaipur, Aiyar addressed his previous “neech” remark about Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He clarified that he never used the term “neech jati” (low caste), but rather referred to Modi as a “neech kisam ke aadmi” (a low-quality man).
Aiyar stated that his comments were misrepresented, leading to unnecessary controversy linked to caste. He emphasized that his critique was directed at the Prime Minister’s character and behavior, not his caste.
In a sharp attack on Modi, Aiyar accused him of coming to power through spreading false rumors and lies. He also alleged that the government has played a role in fostering a communal atmosphere in the country.
Highlighting India’s social and religious diversity, Aiyar asserted that the nation’s identity lies in its pluralism. He warned that promoting the superiority of any single religion or community could threaten the unity and integrity of the nation.
He condemned the notion of telling any citizen to “go to Pakistan,” asserting that India belongs to all religions and communities. Aiyar also remarked that the government should not have a religion, as intertwining religion with the nation contradicts the essence of the Constitution.
Following Aiyar’s remarks, political circles are once again buzzing with debate, and reactions to his statements are emerging.
