
Sikar, October 5: A meeting of political party representatives was held at the Sikar Collectorate under the chairmanship of District Election Officer and Collector Ashish Modi. This gathering was convened in light of the announcement of the Panchayati Raj elections for 2026, during which the Model Code of Conduct has come into effect.
The District Election Officer urged political parties and potential candidates to strictly adhere to the commission’s directives.
Nomination Limits: Only 5 People Allowed
Sub-District Election Officer and Additional District Collector Anil Kumar stated that during the submission of nomination papers, only a maximum of five people, including the candidate, will be allowed entry at the office of the Returning Officer or Assistant Returning Officer. Additionally, no rallies will be permitted during the nomination process.
Expenditure Limits and Vehicle Restrictions
The State Election Commission has set maximum expenditure limits based on the position contested. There are also restrictions on the number of vehicles allowed within a 100-meter radius of the Returning Officer’s office.

These expenditure limits have been increased compared to 2019. According to the commission, elections will be held for 14,403 Gram Panchayats, 457 Panchayat Samitis, and 41 District Councils across the state.
Ban on Victory Processions
Post-election, elected officials, including the head, deputy head, and members of the Panchayat Samiti and District Council, will not be allowed to hold victory processions. The State Election Commission has issued directives to District Election Officers regarding this matter.
Mandatory Printing Details on Campaign Material
Instructions were also provided regarding the printing of campaign materials. It is mandatory for all printed materials to include the name and address of the printer and publisher, circulation number, and other specified details. Strict adherence to rules concerning the defacement of public property was also emphasized.

The meeting included Additional Superintendent of Police (Women’s Crime Investigation) Kishori Lal, Revenue Appellate Officer Rakesh Kumar Garhwal, along with representatives from the Aam Aadmi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party, BJP, CPI(M), Congress, and the National Democratic Party.
Panchayat elections in Sikar district will occur in three phases, with results expected on November 20.
