Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Encourages College Students to Pursue Legislative Careers

Jaipur, October 29: Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani recently engaged with students from Maharani College during their visit to the Assembly. He asked the students who among them aspired to become legislators in the future. The students were part of a public outreach program, where they toured the Assembly, the Assembly building, and the Political Narrative Museum.

Devnani took the opportunity to educate the students about parliamentary traditions, the proceedings of the Assembly, the law-making process, and the responsibilities of public representatives. He emphasized that the Assembly serves as a platform for voicing the emotions and issues of the people, where debates on public interest matters lead to the creation of laws. He encouraged the students to understand the sanctity of the Constitution and democratic values, preparing themselves for future leadership opportunities.

Women’s Representation in Rajasthan Assembly

Currently, women’s representation in the Rajasthan Assembly is low. In the 2023 Assembly elections, only 20 women were elected out of 200 members, accounting for approximately 10 percent. This includes nine women each from the BJP and Congress, along with two independents. This figure marks a decline compared to the 2018 elections.

The Assembly’s public outreach initiative was launched by Devnani, allowing students and the general public to explore the Assembly building and museum.
