Jaipur, May 17: The Rajasthan BJP‘s core committee held a crucial meeting at the party’s state office in Jaipur on Saturday evening. Chaired by state president Madan Rathore, the meeting focused on several important issues related to the organization and government.
Key discussions included the preparation of a panel for potential candidates for the three upcoming vacancies in the Rajya Sabha, as well as strategies for the Gram Chaupal campaign and the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Training Mahabhiyan.
Despite these discussions, the committee could not reach a consensus on the names for the Rajya Sabha panel. The BJP is set to lose two seats in the Rajya Sabha, with one seat under central-level decision-making, where Ravneet Singh Bittu’s name is considered final. The selection for the remaining seat will involve local leaders, with contenders including current core committee members Rajendra Rathore and Ashok Parnami, along with Satish Poonia, Sunil Bansal, Dr. Alka Singh, and Manvendra Singh.
Notably, the in-charge of Rajasthan, MP Radha Mohan Agarwal, maintained a distance during the meeting.
Key Figures Present
The meeting was attended by several senior leaders, including Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Deputy Chief Minister Premchand Bairwa, and Diya Kumari. Former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and other prominent figures participated either in person or via video conferencing.
Strategic Organizational Expansion
The committee also discussed upcoming organizational programs. The Gram Chaupal campaign aims to enhance public engagement in rural areas regarding government schemes and achievements. Additionally, the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Training Mahabhiyan is designed to train party workers at the booth level.
Dr. Chaturvedi noted that most members attended in person, while some senior leaders joined virtually due to prior commitments. He highlighted that the meeting reviewed the ongoing organizational training sessions across the state, expressing satisfaction with the participation and guidance provided to workers.
Global Economic Context
The meeting also addressed rising petrol and diesel prices due to international circumstances. The ongoing Russia-Ukraine crisis and global conditions have led to price increases of 50% to 120% in many countries, while India has seen only a 3% rise. The central government has subsidized fuel prices for the last four months, preventing additional burdens on consumers. The Congress party has been accused of politicizing this issue, despite previous demands for VAT relief during the Ashok Gehlot government.
Future Implications
Senior leader Dr. Arun Chaturvedi emphasized that discussions about the Rajya Sabha elections were crucial. All members, whether present or virtual, authorized President Madan Rathore and Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma to consult and submit appropriate names to the Central Election Committee.
Why This Matters to You
The outcomes of this meeting could significantly shape the political landscape in Rajasthan, affecting local governance and party dynamics. Understanding these developments helps citizens stay informed about their representation and the impact of political decisions on their daily lives.
