Jaipur, April 9: Former BJP state president and Haryana in-charge Satish Poonia has hailed the Pachpadra Refinery and Jaipur Metro Phase-2 projects as significant achievements for Rajasthan, facilitated by the central government. He emphasized that the approval of these projects by the Union Cabinet marks a crucial step towards the state’s development, promising enhanced employment opportunities, connectivity, and industrial growth. Poonia expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that these initiatives will be a game-changer for the western region of Rajasthan.
During a press conference at the BJP headquarters, Poonia announced that the revised cost for the Pachpadra Refinery project has been approved at ₹79,459 crore, with its inauguration proposed by Prime Minister Modi on April 21. He asserted that this project will create millions of job opportunities for the youth in western Rajasthan. Poonia criticized the Congress party, alleging that the previous government’s “delay tactics” led to project holdups and increased costs. However, he claimed that the BJP government has ensured savings of approximately ₹40,000 crore for Rajasthan on this project.
Regarding the Jaipur Metro Phase-2, Poonia noted that this 41-kilometer project is four times larger than the 11-kilometer Phase-1, which was initiated during the Congress regime. The new metro line will connect major city areas from Sitapura to VKI. The total cost of the project is ₹13,037 crore, with equal financial participation from both the central and state governments.
Poonia accused the previous Congress government of launching Phase-1 solely for electoral gains, placing the entire financial burden on the state without any support from the center. He also pointed out that the current Phase-1 is running at a daily loss of approximately ₹10 lakh, raising concerns about its viability.
He concluded by stating that the completion of Metro Phase-2 will cover most major areas of Jaipur, improving traffic management and providing better transportation facilities for the public. He described this as a significant infrastructure upgrade for the capital city.
