KOLKATA — April 14, 2025 — The INDIA Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for thunderstorms, lightning, and rain across several districts of West Bengal starting Monday through April 18. The alert comes as moisture-laden winds from the Bay of Bengal combine with favorable atmospheric conditions to trigger unstable weather.

Cyclonic Circulation Fuels Weather Disturbance

According to IMD, a cyclonic circulation has developed in the upper atmosphere over Bangladesh and adjoining regions, which is expected to impact large parts of South Bengal. Districts such as Purulia, Birbhum, Murshidabad, East and West Bardhaman, and Nadia are likely to witness moderate rainfall, lightning, and strong winds at isolated locations.

Residents are advised to take precautionary measures, avoid open spaces during thunderstorms, and stay tuned to local weather updates.
